Baby Doll Lingerie: Hints & Tips
by: Amanda Cotterill

Baby doll lingerie is one type of sexy lingerie that flatters almost every figure, from the full-bodied woman to the petite. Baby doll lingerie is also a classic style, dating back to the fifties. Baby doll lingerie has been in fashion for over 50 years, and that says a lot about its appeal to women of all ages, shapes and sizes. The popularity is due, in part, to the fact that baby doll screams young, innocent, and cute. What woman can argue with that?

Baby dolls are basically short, sleeveless negligees with shaped cups and loose fitting skirts (usually hitting mid-thigh or a little higher), but there are many types and styles available. The options include sheer baby doll lingerie, exotic print babydolls, and lace babydoll lingerie. Some favorite fabrics for baby doll lingerie are silk, nylon and chiffon. These are often trimmed with ruffles, lace, fur, bows or ribbons—and sometimes even several of these at once for an extremely sexy or risqué babydoll twist.

And sexy is what babydolls are all about, especially ones that come with matching panties, often thongs or g-strings. A sweet, sexy style like that is sure to make babydolls a big hit with the man in your life.

Lingerie Online

When shopping for baby doll lingerie, browse online from the privacy of your home. This is far different from when women of the 50s had to go into department stores to purchase risqué lingerie and felt as if the sales clerk was looking on with distaste. There is no more embarrassment, and online shopping has made it easier than ever to buy any type of sexy lingerie without a woman feeling she has a scarlet letter attached to her blouse!

Shopping Tips for Necklines

Some tips for purchasing baby doll lingerie include looking for a neckline complimentary to your bust line. Many babydoll lingerie pieces have V-necklines with built-in push-up cups. This type of neckline is great for anyone with a small bust or one that needs some lift to look its best. Scoop neck lines that are curved are good for full-busted women. If you’re petite, stay away from too many ruffles around the neckline of your baby doll lingerie because ruffles tend to overpower your face—and bust.

Color My World

Consider the color and pattern when shopping for baby doll lingerie. Red may scream sexy, but not if it’s the one color that makes you look as if you’ve had the flu or your skin already has pinkish tones. Choose colors that are flattering to your skin tone and hair color, just as you would for any type of clothing. Be wary of exotic patterns that can overpower and put too much tart into the innocent but sexy look you're aiming for.

Soft and Soothing

Finally, think about the fabrics. This may sound negligible, but soft and comfortable fabric is important if you’re planning to wear your baby doll lingerie often, and easy care is important too. Fabrics like silk may not be your best choice. That’s okay, because nylon makes a great substitute and is much more washer-friendly. After all, baby doll lingerie should bring extra fun into your life, not extra work!
Plus Size Lingerie: How To Show Off Your Curvy Figure
by: Amanda Cotterill

Not long ago, it was difficult for women to find plus size lingerie. Thanks to designers who recognized that full-bodied women deserved lovely and erotic plus size lingerie, the search is over. Major department stores and boutiques of all sizes carry lines of beautiful full figure lingerie these days, and stores who cater to plus size women are also a great place to find larger size lingerie.
Still, many women find they’re uncomfortable going into these stores to shop for lingerie for larger sizes. They also find that the selections may be limited in individual stores, and they have to go from store to store to find just the plus size lingerie they’re looking for.
That’s usually when the Web becomes a plus size woman’s new best friend. With a simple click of a mouse, a full figured woman can find an endless assortment of lingerie. Doing so from the privacy of her own home gives a feeling of freedom and ease that she generally doesn’t feel when shopping in person. Without sales clerks hovering over her shoulder, a plus size woman has the autonomy and privacy she craves when she’s shopping for plus size lingerie. She can give over to her wild side completely and purchase whatever suits her taste, figure and sense of adventure.
One lingerie garment that no full figured woman should miss out on, however, is the plus size corset. It’s an absolute must-have. Why? A plus size corset is just perfect for showing off those gorgeous curves. It not only highlights them, it also perfects them into lush lavishness.
Another lingerie item that a plus size woman should have in her wardrobe is a baby doll. This garment often has a bra built in that lifts and shapes those lovely breasts, and its flowing skirt hits about mid-thigh, beautifully draping those curves. The perfect neckline for a plus size woman’s baby doll lingerie would be scoop or V-neck, and plus size women can get away with baby dolls that have lots of sexy ruffles or feathers since those styles won’t overwhelm their bust but will enhance it.
These are just a few suggestions for buying plus size lingerie. When shopping online, a woman can also find a multitude of articles that have information and tips for buying plus size lingerie. These resources can be a great guide to buying just the right lingerie to enhance and flatter the plus size figure and make a woman of any size feel beautiful and sexy.
Because these days it’s not about covering up but showing off those plus size curves. With a little guidance, a full figured woman can have not only the plus size lingerie she dreams of, but also have the best lingerie for turning what she may think of as flaws into assets - which makes her feel as beautiful as she truly is.
Sex Appeal Through Erotic Lingerie
by: John Tidswell

There is underwear and there is lingerie and it is a shameful understatement to call lingerie just sexy underwear. It is an enhancement of the woman's form. It is the wispy negligee that cuts a seductive silhouette as severe or as dainty as the woman allows. It is the breast lifter that long ago was made of whalebone, revolutionized earlier this century with the underwire, and now evolved into cups that push breasts in and up with ease and comfort.
Erotic lingerie is an age-old tool for seduction that has reflected the era's definition of sexy and helped women transform from working woman or mild-mannered wife to a mistress of sexual magnetism.
Erotic lingerie is imperative to the erotic arts that we all partake in. It is, in its most classic role, the catalyst to seduce a man from sofa to bed. It is the visual and tactile framework around a woman’s body that serves as an instrument for arousal and enticement. And sexy lingerie is the last article of clothing to drop to the floor. Satin or lace, it is the last tactile sensation before the touch of skin on skin.
But erotic lingerie does not need to start in the bedroom. By day, sexy lingerie can enhance the form under the clothes. And a woman can choose to cover it completely, only to let the hourglass form it helps create be the allure throughout the day. Or she can opt to let the gorgeous satin or lace be barely hidden under the clothing to serve as a tease to the man seeing it. When worn with clothing, the woman chooses the level of sensuality she shows in the lingerie as well as the level of sensuality she feels knowing what sexy attire could be revealed with the loosening of a button or the lift of the skirt.
Torturing men with the art of the tease started centuries ago and evolved over the continents. Asia’s Edo period oirans tempted with billowy kimonos. Mediterranean women over 2,000 years ago teased with cleavage and buttocks that pushed out and up. Europe’s renaissance did the same. The shape was often created through garments that pulled, pushed, lifted and squeezed, and it still is to this day.
Today, the whole body is accentuated with a thin waist, curvy round hips and buttocks, and overflowing, large breasts that are fully accepted floating much higher than the physical norm. However, lingerie has flattened as much as curved. Flappers may not be seen now as the most seductive female form, but lingerie helped them be less curvy and smaller all over. But for most of seduction's history, two canyons were to be accentuated by any means necessary: the chest and the rear end.
As a sexual culture, we have definitely evolved into wispy "barely there" underwear but erotic lingerie has not always had this much comfort, nor has it always given this much choice to the woman wearing it on what kind of sexy she wants to be. We have lingerie for every body type and while the goal is usually an hourglass figure, whether she is thin or voluptuous a woman can find lingerie that will enhance or accentuate her most attractive assets.
Historically, the breasts have gone through many transformations as to what is seen by society as the “sexiest” form. One decade’s padded bosom is another decade’s boyish flattening with popularity in padding the previous decade becoming a strong influence on the flattening and hiding during the next. Shapes changed over time and included small round cups, buttocks-inspired deep cleavage, free-moving surgery enhanced melons, and even rocket-shaped bullets. No matter what one prefers, no one can deny that seduction via the ta-tas has certainly found a home in many outlandish shapes. Nowadays, the best bet is to seduce with what they'll see when the lingerie comes off.
One usually thinks of the chest as the first stop for the tempted male’s eye, and it often is. But the legs and buttocks tempt just as much. Because of this panties can reveal and enhance with the same technology. Some panties will lift and firm depending on what is desired. Others reveal or peek over pants to catch the eye of a sexual target. G-strings and thongs allow the curve of the buttocks to be smooth which enhances the sexy roundness of the behind.
However, we are starting to see the glimmer of an emerging sexual silhouette -the woman's own unique shape accented with light drapings. Mind you, the lingerie may squeeze in one area to accentuate the natural padding of another, but lingerie today can flatter without "false advertising." Many lingerie shops will have complete sections for the small-chested, the heavy-breasted, and the full figured. And we are seeing that sexy lingerie has grown in definition to enhance every part of the body.
Sexy lingerie no longer ends at the infamous derriere. Sexuality goes all the way to the toes with shoes. Heels lift the back of the foot to give height, elongate the leg, and cut a slender silhouette of the calf and thigh which accentuate the legs and buttocks. Shoes are often a neglected part of the ensemble (we're indoors after all, right?), but to truly create the erotic figure the woman aims for, the shoes do the walk that goes with the talk.
One can find in a lot of lingerie the tip of a V-strip of material, or sensual jewelry that works almost exactly like a road map, pointing out the shortest distance from wonder to pleasure. Sensual jewelry is a shiny, sparkling addition to lingerie and can be found in many lingerie shops. The classic is the necklace. In the Middle Ages, women aroused with a small bell pendant that hung perfectly above their cleavage. Most popular this year (and in the decade overall) are rows of rhinestones or silver around the waist or neck. A seemingly stray piece dangles seductively to the side, or if one wants to be completely forward, straight down the middle.
The waist has been enhanced mainly to accentuate the polar ends of the sensual body. Corsets and bodices can thin or stretch the waist so that the breasts and buttocks seem larger and higher. The separation adds length and thins the body as much as the tightening does.
Those that use the argument for not putting time or thought into their lingerie will say, "I don't buy lingerie because I'll just take it off." These people have completely missed the point. Erotic lingerie was created not only to make sure that exact action took place over and over and over again, but to ensure there would be a captive audience for that special show.
Sexy Strapless Bustiers - You Only Need One!
by: Amanda Cotterill

A strapless bustier is one of the most versatile pieces of sexy lingerie that a woman can own. A well-designed bustier can provide many of the figure shaping benefits of a corset, without the accompanying discomfort. A bustier can be used to provide definition underneath other clothes, or worn instead of a shirt, perhaps paired with a beautiful jacket. Although bustiers and the related basque come in many styles, a strapless bustier provides maximum options. Read on for some important information about this amazing garment.
Basque, Bustier or Corset?
All three terms are often used interchangeably, so it is important to examine a garment to determine if it is what you want, regardless of the label. Strictly speaking, however, there are some design differences. A corset has traditionally been used for figure definition and even waist training, although modern styles are much less restrictive. Nonetheless, a corset laces up, contains boning, and takes inches off the waist. A bustier generally has light boning or a control panel, and is designed to gently sculpt the body rather than confine it. A basque is similar to a bustier, but may not contain control panels or boning, and often has straps or even small cap sleeves. In general, a corset does not feature built-in cups, while the bustier and the basque both do. However, this is not always the case.
Sizing a Strapless Bustier
A bustier is sized according to the chest measurement of the bra size. This can make it difficult to find the perfect fit. Larger busted women may need to go up a size, while those with small busts may prefer to go down a size. If ordering online, be sure to read the size chart and ordering information closely. Also consider trying on a few bustiers in person to decide your exact size.
Strapless Bustier Styles
You can find strapless bustiers in a wide range of styles, from relatively demure to blatantly sexy. The style you select will depend on the ways in which you plan to wear the bustier. If it will be used for body shaping beneath outerwear, select a relatively plain style without a lot of details that may show through your outer garment. However, if you plan to substitute the bustier for a shirt, then the sky is truly the limit. Look for styles with a lot of detailing that add a dressy, glamorous touch.
The Bottom Line
The strapless bustier is an excellent addition to a collection of sexy lingerie. Both practical and functional, the bustier can be worn in a bold and sexy style for the bedroom, a gently body sculpting version underneath any outfit, or even in a dressy and dramatic style in lieu of a shirt. Make sure that you understand how the bustier is sized and follow all ordering instruction carefully. Try on several styles before you buy, and you may even end up making several purchases.
Shopping For Sexy Lingerie With Your Partner Can Be Fun!
by: Amanda Cotterill

Shopping for erotic lingerie is something many women do. Most women have different reasons for shopping for it, of course. Some like the pleasure and tantalizing sense of sexuality it can bring, others want to spice up their relationships, and others simply like how erotic lingerie feels on the skin. Purchasing erotic lingerie is sadly something most women do alone, however, as few women actually take their partners with them on this most sensual of retail journeys.
Whether going to a store or looking at lingerie online, shopping for erotic lingerie as a couple adds excitement long before you wear the garment in the bedroom. Think of all the fun you two could have picking out intimate apparel together. As a couple, you'll strengthen your bond as you discover each other's fantasies and bring your relationship to a whole new level.
If you've never gone shopping together in an erotic lingerie store, your partner might be awkward at first. The only rule is to have an open mind. Share with each other what styles you like or don't like. If your mate seems attracted to an outfit you never thought you'd picture yourself in, try it on anyway. Eventually, you'll reach a middle ground between the erotic lingerie you like, what he likes - and you might surprise yourself in the process.
Both of you must remember that should one of you strongly dislike an item, you should be able to respect your partner's preferences and let it go gracefully. The more you talk, the more you'll both unearth fantasies you may have been hesitant to voice before. Once you break the ice and get the conversation flowing, the rest is easy.
Instead of heading downtown to the erotic lingerie store where your pastor or mother-in-law might see you, why not try shopping for lingerie online? This safe and secure way of shopping for sexy gear for your bedroom is a great way to come together with your partner, kick back, and have some erotic fun while shopping.
The brain is the most important sex organ in the human body. Just the thought of exotic lingerie is sure to start both your pulses racing. Much of the sexual experience is about the anticipation leading up to the big event. A day of shopping or an evening of surfing online is enough to fill your heads with all sorts of ideas.
With so many arousing and sensual options to choose from in the world of erotic lingerie, it just makes sense to share the experience with a partner. A trip to the mall, some shopping online, or a trip to the local sex shop is a great way to create some magic in any relationship.
Make sure the next time you think about buying some new sexy lingerie you take your partner along for some new ideas that will pay off in more ways than one. There are so many different styles there will be one that both you and your loved one will find amazing.
Sexy Lingerie: Teddies And Bodysuits Are More Than Just Sexy
by: Amanda Cotterill

At first glance all teddies and bodysuits might look alike, but there are some differences between the two pieces of lingerie. A teddy usually a one-piece garment that resembles the combination of a camisole and panties. While teddies are now considered sexy lingerie, like all lingerie they started out with a specific function. Teddies were used for full coverage underneath clothing. A fit that was once loose, became more form fitting over time, eventually evolving into the skin tight lingerie we have today.
A bodysuit is also a single piece made of a stretchy material and designed to cling to the body. Bodysuits have short sleeves, long sleeves, no sleeves, and leggings. Teddies are primarily thought of as sexy lingerie and are never worn as an outer garment. Sexy bodysuits, on the other hand, are often worn for fun in the bedroom or for making a splash out in public. Bodysuits gained popularity in the 1980s, frequently worn as outerwear. A sexy bodysuit was and still is a perfect match for everything from skirts to jeans. On a more functional level, bodysuits are a favorite choice for athletes like gymnasts, runners, cyclists and have been a standard garment for dancers for years.
Bodysuits are enjoying a comeback from the days when big hair and leg warmers ruled the world. As the saying goes, if you hang on to something long enough, it eventually comes back into style. Bodysuits come in a wide variety of colors, textures, and styles to match anyone's tastes
What most women like about the bodysuits is the appearance of having a tucked in shirt or blouse without all the excess fabric around the waist. Bodysuits also work well underneath a jacket for smooth lines without the added bulk.
Bodysuits and teddies are made from sheer or semi-sheer stretch fabrics such as Lycra or Spandex. Both cling tightly to the curves of the body, but unlike a corset or girdle, a sexy bodysuit won't be tight enough to change your shape. Bodysuits and teddies lack boning for any kind of support, although there are a few on the market with control panels or built in bras.
To keep it real, wear a teddy or bodysuit under your clothes during the day. Whether grocery shopping or sitting in on a boring board meeting, you can keep it sexy and cool by wearing relaxing lingerie under your clothes. Nobody will have to know and you'll be able to remain comfortable and collected in the most chaotic of circumstances.
Whether you choose a teddy or sexy bodysuit for fun or practical reasons, this sexy lingerie is an indispensable addition to any wardrobe. Both go from public to private in the blink of an eye. Have a hot date right after work? No problem. Your sexy bodysuit will transition nicely from the boardroom to the club. Be as revealing or as secretive as you like with your sexy lingerie, no one will ever know - that is, of course unless you want them to.
Lingerie Buying Tips For The Modern Man
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Lingerie is a hard thing to buy. It's not just about getting the right size as with other clothing gifts. It's also about the fear of getting the wrong style. Or the wrong color. Or the wrong fabric. But there are a few lingerie buying tips that might help you to pick a lingerie gift worthy of your lady’s attention.
1. Not every woman wants erotic lingerie. Take a minute to think of what your loved one might want. Is she a tomboy? A girly girl? A power monger? It's not a good idea to buy flimsy, see-through, lacy lingerie for someone who can't stand to wear a skirt. Be aware. Don't buy what you want to see her in. Chances are it will end up sitting in her underwear drawer next to the old-fashioned granny panties.
2. If you let her show her personality, you might get to see a lot more. Don't buy a leopard print lingerie set if your lady likes to walk around the house in Mickey Mouse P.J.‘s. Definitely don't go leather unless you've seen her wild streak. Keep an inventory of the types of clothes she likes to wear. Does she prefer loose clothing? Try a nightgown or camisole, which are both loose-fitting. A chemise, a gown-style with spaghetti or halter straps, is another good choice. If she likes to squeeze into her clothes, something more form-fitting would be appropriate. She might like a Lycra teddy, for example. Or, a simple negligee with a tight-fitting addition, such as a garter or corset.
3. Depending on how long you've been with your lady, you may have an idea of what part/parts of her body she likes to flaunt. Or hide. If she has a small bust and isn't happy with it, consider styles that might make them appear larger. Don't get a padded bra. That tells her that you think her breasts are too small. If you plan to buy from a local store, talk to the salesperson. She will be able to give you some ideas.
4. Size matters. Of all the lingerie buying tips, this one is the most crucial. And the least obvious. Lingerie doesn't have mercy. If it's not sized right, it won't fit. To avoid making this mistake, simply ask her what size clothing she wears. Tell her you saw some clearance clothing downtown and wondered if they'd fit. If you don't feel comfortable asking her size, or don't want to lie, there's a solution. Look in her underwear drawer (very carefully, so as not to permanently disturb anything). Compare two or three pairs to get a consistent size. Then check the closet for shirt and top sizes. It is very important to get it right. If you buy a piece that is too big, she'll think you see her as fat. Too small, she'll be self-conscious of her size for all of eternity.
5. Picking the right color lingerie will get you brownie points. It's not just about knowing your lady's favorite color. It's about knowing what colors look good on her. Raid her closet again. Since most women innately know what colors suit them best, you'll find that one or two colors stand out. If your lady doesn't seem to have that sixth-sense, remember this: blondes have fun in pastels, brunettes stand out in strong, solid colors, and redheads run with earth tones. Still unsure? Go with the lingerie staples black, white, or crème.
6. Don't forget to think fabric. With so many choices now, there's no reason you should have to get silk or satin lingerie. Some women can't wear it. Silk holds in heat, and women who sweat a lot or get hot easily just won't be comfortable. Cotton or flannel lingerie is comfortable and skin-friendly.
While shopping for lingerie can be rather intimidating, these lingerie buying tips should give you the heads up on how to begin your search. Lingerie is a great gift that tells your lady you think she is attractive and sensual. Give her the perfect piece of lingerie and you'll find out just how sensual she is.
The Subjective Role Of Sexy Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

There are three kinds of lingerie in the world. There is that used strictly to bring on the act of sex. Fishnet stockings with a sheer camisole set, for example. Or a g-string and a half-cup bra. Then there are lingerie pieces that serve to enhance or control the body's natural beauty. Corsets, garters, and bustiers are examples. Finally, there is the sexy lingerie. This is lingerie used in the art of romance. Silk negligees and lacy panties, for instance.
Marketing of sexy lingerie is aimed toward the everyday woman, the working mom or career lady who has to spend every day in a man's world. The lingerie these women want to wear on the weekend doesn't include granny panties and a T-shirt. It isn't a trampy, uncomfortable outfit either. They want lingerie that is tasteful and classy enough to wear on a regular basis. And comfortable. If they can't enjoy wearing lingerie, they don't want it at all. Men buying lingerie for their ladies need to realize this.
It is important to say here that sexy is a subjective term. It depends really on the psychology of those involved. What one man thinks is sexy might be utterly atrocious and distasteful to another. Take sheer lingerie. One man would find the idea of seeing his lady's body through the lingerie very sexy and stimulating. Another man would think it too revealing and unimaginative. In order to determine where they stand on the matter, men could answer the following questions:
1. Do you get aroused seeing fully-clothed women?
2. Would you go or have you ever gone to a striptease?
3. When you and your lady get time alone, what do you do first?
This strange set of questions can tell men a lot about what they think is sexy. It will also reveal to them some of their attitudes about the act. Men who climax early during intercourse shouldn't buy trampy, skimpy lingerie. A sexual encounter shouldn't be over in five minutes. Men who find themselves aroused in the presence of fully-clothed women usually have a good imagination. A simple body-suit for their women can prove provocative to them. Men who frequent the striptease or the nearby go-go club might need more. These shows desensitize. The sexy or romantic style of lingerie just won't cut it. These men need to see skin. A thong or backless panties might help some men along. Finally, the last question. On the weekend, after the work week is done, men and women reunite in a more relaxed atmosphere. They have a chance to remedy what might be days of sexual frustration. Men who want sex first won't need alluring lingerie. A simple bra and panty set will suffice. Men who expect to spend a romantic evening with their ladies before commencing with sex should go for the silk chemise or camisole set.
So, what does sexy lingerie do for a relationship? Depending on what men feel is sexy, it can either lead to or instigate the act of making love. In the lingerie world, sexy style lingerie points to that which is alluring and attractive, without becoming pornographic. It is the comfortable silk or satin nightgown. It covers enough of the body to leave things to the imagination. But since sexy is a subjective term, it has come to include all types of lingerie, whether they reveal nothing or everything.

The Smooth History Of Silk Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Silk has a long history, beginning in the Far East. It was harvested with the silk that silkworms create and made into all sorts of different types of clothing. Silk was at one point so expensive that only rich people could afford it. Not so anymore. It has become widespread, and most people will find silk lingerie at their nearest department store.

Silk lingerie is valued for its softness and shiny appearance. It has many variations, and is sometimes known as charmeuse or chiffon. No man-made material properly emulates silk, but fabrics like rayon copy the properties. Rayon is popular because it can be machine washed. Rayon is also valued for its other properties. Unlike silk, rayon doesn’t hold in heat. This makes it popular in hot and humid climates. Still, rayon is not a completely natural fabric, and doesn’t hold the high-esteem that silk does.

Even though it has beauty beyond compare, lingerie made from silk is not easy to care for. It demands special attention. Silk lingerie cannot be washed in detergent. It cannot be bleached either, because bleach is too harsh for the fibers. Washing by hand is the best way to keep the fabric looking new. Just use lukewarm water. Do not twist a silk garment, for it is easy to misshape. Rinse to remove the soap and lay to dry. Make sure you look on the tag for washing instructions. Some newer silks are sturdy enough to withstand a wash cycle.
Silk lingerie is usually embellished with lace or ribbon. This adds a feminine touch as well as an extra treat for the eyes. It can be found online and in local stores. An online specialty shop might offer better prices. Bricks and mortar stores have to pay monthly rental and insurance. Because of this, they cannot afford to lower their prices. Most online lingerie shops can afford to sell their pieces for a lower price, because the sellers sell directly from their apartments or homes. This doesn’t mean to say that online shops are always cheaper. Small shop-owners don’t always buy in large quantities. This is because much of their business is buy-on-demand. The owner of a physical location may buy in larger quantities to save money, since suppliers will offer a discount for bulk purchases.

Lingerie made of silk looks exotic. It forms to the body loosely. Its shiny texture appeals visually, and the feel is soft and smooth. Silky lingerie comes in so many different styles, including everything from the short camisoles to the teddies and longer negligees. It has always been the romantic choice; now that it is affordable for everyone, silk has become the standard in lingerie wear.

When buying silk lingerie, take a good look at the price. If it seems too low, read the label. Some lingerie sold as silk is actually satin. Silk is shiny on both sides. Satin is shiny on one side and dull on the other. This is due to differences in the manufacturing processes between the two. Study the fabric. Are there any rips or tears in it? Does it have any thin spots? Silk is valuable. It will last a long time if it is properly taken care of. Like other things taken from nature, silk deserves our respect and attention.

The History And Purpose Of Womens Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Lingerie has a long and prosperous history as enhancers of the female form. It is believed that the first example of lingerie for women originated in the Mediterranean. This was two thousand years before Christ. The field of womens lingerie has grown and flourished ever since. Now, it is popular among all classes of people. It appears all around the world. It is also a multi-million dollar industry, with newer styles and functions appearing on a regular basis.

There are two different classes of lingerie for women. One style enhances what women already have. Another style hides what women don't want to have. Bustiers and corsets can fit in both classes. Corsets have a slimming effect, making the waist appear smaller and curvier. Bustiers push up the breasts, enhancing and forming the bust.

Bras are a type of women's lingerie, although they have been so mainstreamed as to be a normal addition to most women's closets. Bras can serve many functions. They support women with bigger busts, aiding in back support. They can pull up drooping breasts, and enhance with gel and other fillers. With a pair of matching panties, bras can also attract.
Lingerie has come a long way from the days of burlesque. Seedy motels and back alley shops were the breeding ground of lingerie back then, when men with insatiable appetites went to Burlesque shows to see their fantasies enacted on stage. Women with skimpy or stringy clothing danced. Some took pieces of their clothing off and taunted the men with them. Now, women can do the same thing for their own men, without the inhibition of those older days. Womens lingerie has come into the light, and there exist many gorgeous and tasteful pieces. And what is not tasteful is acceptable in other circles and with other purposes. The g-strings, thongs, backless panties and fishnet stocking with leather are a look that serves to sell sex. This sex sells between a couple in the bedroom or on the pages of Playboy.

Some popular styles of women's lingerie include:

Camis: These sleeveless tops usually include spaghetti straps and flow over the body. They sometimes include matching panties.

Chemise: A short, straight nightgown, light and soft.

Teddy: Imagine wearing a loose-fitting bathing suit with frills and lace.

Baby Doll: A particular style of lingerie. This was invented in a 1950's movie of the same name. It is a very short nightgown that accentuates the bust. It stops just above the hips and usually comes with panties. The fabric floats away from the body, while it clasps around the bust.

Kimonos and negligees: These are not lingerie, per se, but can be worn over top of it. For women who chill easily in the shorter pieces, this can make the difference between whether they wear lingerie or not.

Womens lingerie was originally made from silk and satin. It represented sexuality and comfort. Now lingerie is made of a lot of different fabrics, each with its own meaning. Leather lingerie denotes danger and carries with it a rebellious attitude. Velvet lingerie is soft and exotic. Cotton is for modern women who dislike frilly, sassy clothing. Lycra, a relative of spandex, is used for a sporty, tight-fitting look.

The Path To Buying Lingerie Successfully
by: Jason Mark Hulott

There is nothing quite as sweet (and dangerous) as buying your loved one lingerie. What it says is "You're physically attractive to me and I want to see more!" Of course, this attraction-factor also makes buying lingerie hard, because if you get it wrong and it doesn't make your loved one stunningly beautiful, you're likely to end up defusing a volatile situation. This doesn't have to happen. With a few tips to buying your woman (or man) lingerie, you can find just the right piece.

The first thing to remember when shopping for lingerie is to remember who you're shopping for. Just because you might like that lacy, stringy black teddy doesn't mean she will. Find out what she likes. You should have a general idea, but if you don't, there's no shame in admitting it. Take a peek in her underwear drawer. Look in her closet. Ask her. Talk to her mother. How you find out isn't important. If you find that she's a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, don't go out and buy her a see-through teddy with spaghetti straps. Does she like tight clothes? She may enjoy wearing something form-fitting, like a Lycra or spandex teddy. She might also like corsets or bustiers that flatter her figure.

What does her personality tell you she likes? A tomboy isn't going to want a lacy, frilly gown. Try to force the issue and see what happens. In this case, maybe a thong or a pair or two of boy shorts would go over well. On the other hand, if you regularly see her walking around in next to nothing, and you know she's got a kinky side, something more risqué would be an order. Perhaps a bikini set. Maybe something more dramatic. A sheer chemise with fishnet stockings. Maybe a whip to go with it. Or you can just buy a naughty maid or sexy nurse costume and dispense with the whole charade.

Fabric is a big consideration when buying lingerie. There are a myriad of comfortable, sexy fabrics out there. Some of these, like silk and satin, are popular with lingerie designers. Other fabrics appeal to men (and women) interested only in what lingerie can do. "Exotic" fabrics like velvet and leather, for example. They're not always comfortable. But they bring sexiness and allure to a new level. Cotton is new on the lingerie scene. Its comfort is unrivaled. It is also reasonably priced.

Buying sexy lingerie for plus-sized women isn't as difficult as it might seem. These women often need more support around the bust. A wired bra, a corset or bustier will accessorize with another piece of lingerie to give her both comfort and support. If she is larger around the waist, go with a flowing chemise or negligee. The important thing to remember with larger-sized women is that they don't usually feel comfortable in their bodies. Get them lingerie that accentuates the things you find attractive, and show her that you think she is beautiful.

Not much is said of buying lingerie for men. It might be because women generally know what their men want. Or maybe men aren't as particular. But with choices growing daily, men's lingerie can be hard to choose. Only one body part needs to be covered. But what do you cover it in? A thong, briefs, backless shorts? What fabric do you buy? Leather is a quick attractant. Silk is luxurious. Lycra, a relatively new fabric for lingerie, is form-fitting and sexy. Just as with buying women's lingerie, find out what your man likes before shopping.

Cheap Lingerie Without The Cheap Look
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Men spend a lot of money trying to find ways to make their loved ones even prettier than they are. To find a look that flatters what his mate has and hides the things she doesn't like about herself can make everyone feel good. But what can be even better is finding cheap lingerie that looks like it cost a million dollars. Even now that's not an easy task. But with an increase in online lingerie shops, it's getting easier.

Cheap lingerie might be a misnomer. Even lingerie on sale is typically higher in cost than a pair of pants. But there are places and times where men can find lower-priced lingerie. Clearance bins at the local department store is one place to look. These bins hold the pieces that got overstocked, or failed to sell for some reason. As such, they may not be silk or satin lingerie with frills or extras. But they can still make a good gift for someone who has not become accustomed to higher-priced lingerie. Another place to look for low-price lingerie is online. With the myriad of lingerie storefronts on the Internet, there are inevitably going to be those pieces that arrive to the seller defective or tagged with the wrong size. Some will sell returns for a percentage off. And with all of the competition online, there will always be a shop here or there that is going out of business and needs to get rid of its inventory, for whatever customers are willing to pay.

There are as many styles of cheap lingerie as there are body types in the world. Two distinct purposes of lingerie are to enhance the body's natural beauty and to shape and modify parts of the body that need help. Corsets, bustiers, bras, garters and the like are shapers. They can make the breasts appear larger and more shapely. They can also slim the waist and bring out curves that are just barely there. Teddys, camis, baby dolls and other similar styles of lingerie can enhance the body's natural shape. They often cover the torso, and come in either one-piece suits or a set with a top and panties.

Movies have made popular the silky, soft and lacy lingerie, but it can be made of a variety of fabrics. Leather and velvet are popular choices for those looking to go against the grain. Cotton and other more 'comfortable' fabrics have made a recent appearance to cater to women with "discomfort phobia." Lycra, a stretchy material related to spandex, is popular among men's lingerie and increasingly with women's bodysuits.

As the quality of it continues to increase, cheap lingerie isn't just for the financially burdened. As many a cheapskate has said, why spend a fortune to buy the name brand, when you can get a knockoff for half the price? Purchasing lingerie on clearance can be a great investment, if buyers are willing to accept the imperfections. Trying a piece of lingerie on before buying can keep sizing mistakes from becoming an issue. And a simple inspection of the hems and fabric will minimize any chance of getting a piece that will have to be donated to Goodwill.

Bridal Lingerie Explained
by: Jason Mark Hulott

A wedding gown is the centerpiece of a wedding. But if the gown is the centerpiece, the lingerie is the largest flower in the centerpiece. Without the right lingerie, a wedding dress doesn't fit the theme. Who would think to wear cotton panties and a simple bra underneath a wedding dress? Bridal lingerie can make or break the effects of a wedding dress. Different styles of lingerie can enhance or hide parts of the body that the bride feels are prominent.

What type of lingerie a bride gets depends on the style and length of the wedding gown. The choice also varies with the bride's body shape. Dresses that show some skin, or shorter dresses, will need an "invisible" undergarment that doesn't get in the way. Women who wear strapless dresses cannot wear a bra. In this case, adhesive cups or breast petals are tasteful and attractive. Breast petals cover the nipple and center of the breast. They can be made of polyester or silicone gel, and ensure that nothing comes through the gown that doesn't belong. For women who need to enhance their breasts, a bustier or push-up bra can do wonders to make them appear larger and fuller.

Bridal lingerie is reminiscent of the old corset/bustier style of the Victorian Era. But unlike the old style, newer types actually emulate comfort. They also offer the control that brides need underneath all that fancy ribbon and lace. Modern corsets tighten and form the waistline. They can be of a lace-up style or made from naturally stretchy material like spandex. Bustiers are also popular wedding lingerie. They emphasize and control the bust. And a simple pair of panty hose or control-top panties can support and tighten the rear.

It is usually the maid of honor who chooses the bridal lingerie. However, she only chooses lingerie for the wedding day itself. Sometimes the wedding night. It will be up to the bride to choose lingerie for the honeymoon. Each occasion will dictate a different kind of lingerie, since each has its own emotional context. For the wedding ceremony, lacy or patterned fabrics are not recommended. They can show through the gown, making it look somewhat sloppy and distasteful. Seamless undergarments and thongs are good for those who are comfortable in them. Especially if the bride wears a short dress or one that reveals the panty line. A bodysuit that covers both the breast and the torso will serve as a slimming garment, if the wedding dress is thin.

Finding bridal lingerie is a very important job. The bride will be wearing the wedding lingerie for more than twelve hours. She will need something that is comfortable while still being classy. Lingerie for the wedding night is easier to choose. No one but the bride and her new husband will see this lingerie. It's all about romance. Frilly, lacy lingerie is sexy and provocative without heading into pornographic. For the honeymoon, pornographic is good. Almost expected. But the theme doesn't have to be taken too far. The maid outfits and the fishnet stockings should be spared for later, when men and women need to spice up their sex lives, not on the honeymoon, when sex is most of the reason for celebrating!

The Risque In Exotic Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Exotic lingerie isn't what it might appear to be. Exotic can mean something from another, far-off land. It can also mean "intriguingly unusual." What makes this important is that even the simplest nightgown can become exotic with a little bit of lace or ribbon. Of course, coupled with exotic lingerie, is erotic lingerie, since the two are often placed together anyway. Lingerie that is given an exotic rating usually covers very little of the female body.

Exotic style lingerie feeds into the male desire to see women in next to nothing. But stringy panties, short lacy nightgowns, and things that make the female form more voluptuous have become familiar. So familiar that what used to be considered exotic is now banal and outdated. Instead, what has become exotic is just what used to be boring. Corsets, garters and garter belts, and bustiers, once a part of standard female attire (albeit covered), have changed status. They're not as simple now. Different fabrics and different styles have given old-style "underclothes" an erotic reputation. Not just erotic. Risqué. Seems men of today still like 'old-fashioned' women.

Much of the exotic types of lingerie we see today have their roots in the burlesque tradition. Corsets, bustiers, and sheer underwear were standard dancer's attire. Many wore slippers and gloves. They carried fold-out fans, which they used to tantalize the audience. Burlesque was all about celebrating the outrageous and thumbing its nose at convention. Lingerie in the exotic style and outlandish costumes were the focal point of the performance. Burlesque allowed single men to watch their fantasies acted out. This in a time when gentlemen were expected to act as such. Of course, when sexual norms became less restrictive, the burlesque tradition lost much of its audience. Why pay for it when you can get if for free?

Type of fabric has a lot of influence on what lingerie reaches exotic status. Although satin, lace, and silk were considered exotic at one point, they have since reached and passed the novelty stage. Today's exotic lingerie might include those made from velvet or leather. Pieces made of these materials are harder to come by. And more expensive than their counterparts.

So far, women have been the main characters in the exotic-style lingerie story. But men also belong in this tale. Men's lingerie has come into its own over the past few decades. It's not just about boxers or briefs anymore. G-strings and thongs have attacked the men's lingerie market. Backless and/or crotchless versions of these styles are still growing in popularity. And new styles, including the very exotic-looking "ring-slings," are popping up every day. Ring-slings can hardly be called clothing at all. Most of the time, they cover the essentials. Thin strings then pull up and go around the man's neck to look like suspenders. Suffice it to say that there is no shortage of lingerie for men, some more risqué than women's versions.

Not surprisingly, exotic lingerie seems destined for association with eroticism. Like other erotic tools, this style is best shared in the privacy of the bedroom. Whether it is a sheer teddy or a half-cup bra, a naughty maid's suit or a veiled chemise from India, exotic is intriguing. And erotic.

Where To Find Cheap Online Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

There is no shortage of lingerie shops online today. Not too long ago, they were scattered in dark corners of alleys and hidden in out-of-the way places. Somehow, the Internet has validated a lot of businesses that would otherwise find themselves skirting society's boundaries. Cheap online lingerie can be found in any corner of the online apparel industry, whether from a specialty shop or a local department store website. Some high-class lingerie companies sell cheap brands online to widen their audience, in addition to gathering profit for their flawed or otherwise unwanted merchandise.

If you buy bargain lingerie online, inspect the picture and description of it carefully as permitted. Make sure that if you are going to buy from a company you're not familiar with, you read the return policy thoroughly. It is likely that your bargain lingerie will be flawed in one way or another. This might be minor design problem. A piece being labeled with the wrong size, or a small tear. The fabric might just be unevenly cut.

The advantages of buying lingerie cheaply online can be one of attitude. Some women aren't seductive. They don't feel attractive. They are shy. They may even be body-phobic. Having the choice to buy lingerie online, discreetly, gives them the chance to find some of their innate sexiness. Plus-sized women often feel self-conscious walking through a lingerie shop. They see the thin models and body-baring styles and get scared. But online, they can browse the selection and the price in the comfort of their own homes. And since most lingerie companies ship their merchandise in plain brown boxes, nobody needs to know. This goes the same for men searching for lingerie for that loved one. Many men don't particularly want to go into a Victoria's Secret and walk around. Online lingerie stores allow them to search as much as they want. And if they decide to go for a cheap piece of lingerie, they don't have to see the shop clerk. They don't have to see the accusation. The voice saying: "That's not all you're going to spend on her, is it?"

The kinds and styles of cheap online lingerie vary from storefront to storefront. Many of the cheap selections will be made of cotton or polyester, but you may be fortunate and find a real silk set. They may not have the lace or the frills, but they will probably look tasteful and attractive. Lingerie that covers the torso can be inexpensive; styles like the camisole, chemise, or teddy. Invariably, however, you'll be able to find more provocative items. These might include crotch-less panties, g-strings and thongs. Lingerie of all different sizes, colors and styles are scattered about the Internet. All you have to do is look and you can find the cheaper varieties of most lingerie.

A Primer On Uk Lingerie
by: Jason Mark Hulott

Modern lingerie designers have a lot more freedom to use their imagination than they used to. In the UK lingerie market, this opens up an arena of opportunities for producers to make something wholly new and exciting. In lingerie, excitement is the name of the game. Camisoles with frilly panties, leather teddies with fishnet stockings, backless panties of Lycra...all stimulate the senses. Some prove stimulating in other ways. Some styles of lingerie don't have to excite. Corsets, bustiers and garters, for example. They control. They enhance. They sometimes shock. But as other lingerie, they all get attention.

In the UK, lingerie is often sold alongside swimwear and other mainstream items. Corsets, bras and bodices can also be found in the same area, along with men's lingerie. Styles in some smaller boutiques are made to measure. With all of the body sizes and types in the UK, this can mean getting a customized fit.

One of the most popular fabrics used to make lingerie is silk. It begins cool to the touch but warms the body, keeping the wearer nice and snug. Of course, for those who don't have the extra money and time that silk demands, satin is a related fabric. It is also smooth. And soft. But it is slightly less expensive then silk. But it is not as sturdy, due to the construction differences between the two fabrics. Other popular fabrics for UK lingerie are mesh and lace. Cotton is a newer option that promises comfort. Velvet and leather are popular fabrics for erotic lingerie. Lycra, a body-hugging material rather like spandex, is becoming a success for those wanting a sporty and slimming effect.

The kind of lingerie consumers look for depends on their purpose for the clothing. Those whose primary goal is to gather the attention of a lover will find success with leather teddies or a sheer camisole set. For a romantic lead, lace and satin negligees or a simple chemise might do the trick. For comfortable eveningwear, cotton gowns afford warmth and comfort. And then there are those styles of lingerie that can serve a multitude of purposes. Bras, bustiers and corsets can lend support and can also serve as a turn on. The baby doll, a style of lingerie that became popular in the 1950s, is a versatile piece that usually covers (but not always) the torso and ends at the hips. It normally comes with matching panties. Sheer material is often used to heighten a man's libido.

Traditionally, UK lingerie is produced for mass consumption. Therefore, the primary colors of lingerie are black, white, and red. Black denotes mystery and allure. At the other end of the spectrum, white represents purity and innocence. A lot of women like to play on that irony during sexual encounters. And red has always been a symbol of boldness and sexuality. Which color buyers choose to buy depends on these facts and some knowledge of skin tone and color compatibility. Fair-haired women look best in pastel shades. Brunettes look good in bold colors, like purple and red. Red-heads impress with earth tones and other Earth-inspired colors, like greens and blues.
